Michael Garner, widely recognized by his stage name M. Anthony, is making powerful waves across the worlds of music, literature, and community service. Born in New Orleans and raised in the Bayou region of Louisiana, M. Anthony’s journey began in gospel roots, thanks to his mother—a church choir director who inspired his early passion for music. By age seven, Garner was singing, and he later mastered the trumpet, piano, and organ, setting the stage for a dynamic musical career.
In 1993, M. Anthony co-founded the R&B group Total Package, releasing their debut single "Midnight Romance." His spiritual journey soon led him to form the Christian duo Divine Inspiration, releasing the album Stay, and writing a powerful Christian musical titled Choices—a 14-scene narrative blending music with spiritual themes.
M. Anthony launched his solo career with the 2019 album To The Nations, which featured the heartfelt single "Redeemed." His most recent 2024 EP, Trojan Horse, showcases his signature blend of contemporary and traditional worship music, solidifying his role as a genre-blending innovator. As the President of Archangel Music Group and Imminent Storm Publishing, Garner is on a mission to unite people across religious, cultural, and social lines through powerful and purposeful music.
But M. Anthony’s impact goes far beyond the stage. In his acclaimed book, America: A Disconnected Society, he explores socioeconomic injustice, racism, and media influence, offering insight drawn from 27 years in law enforcement. His writing is a call for unity and action, a reflection of the values that drive his music and community work.
A passionate mentor and leader, Garner actively supports youth through the 98 Diamonds Foundation and Refuge 127 Ministries, empowering at-risk communities with education and faith. His influence has earned him membership in the Gospel Music Association, the Stellar Awards Gospel Music Academy, and ASCAP.
